Chronicle — story spoilers

A chronicle recovered in Whispering Hills names the Verdant Ward. Its custodians once used paths marked by root-carved waystones. Bound to root, river and renewal, the Ward steadies the land and helps keep ancient influences dormant. It is no shield that makes a castle invincible. Most Markorians know it only as a folktale; its workings remain uncertain.
